I decided on Saturday to take back most of the baby items that I had purchased for a baby shower and lamented about in the previous blog entry. The catalyst was again a Facebook status update of hers which pretty much said that she was doing nothing and watching Supernanny and, after digging out the receipt from Target, noticing that I had until 1/3/11 to return it for a refund.
That leaves just one lone, bright pink turtleneck onesie that is laying around thanks to JCPenney's return policy only allowing returns 60 days after the purchase date. We are now at about Day 74. I guess I could try. Even a store credit would be better than just having it hanging around until someone conceives a girl (*coughcough*Ed Abbey*coughcough*).
I must say, it felt really good returning those items. I'm hopeful that there will be a day where the mom-to-be sends me a message about when she's free and I can say "Sorry but I returned everything while you were eating chinese takeout and watching Supernanny". I have a feeling that day won't come though.

Those B.S. return policies prevent people from gift shopping early to avoid the rush. If the recipient does need to return something, they can't. I really hate retailers.
Cheers.
I've returned several things in the past over the date though never at JC Penney. I would do it first thing in the morning when they are still happy and feeling good and not at the end of the day when the 31,174th person returned a sweater for cash.
Ah... on the other issue, you may be waiting for a while yet.
you buying turtlenecks for babies? trying to start them down the wrong path early?
Wish you a blessed Christmas and a joyous New Year!
TIM! Thank you and it's great to see you back around here. I hope you and your bride and your family have a very Merry Christmas.
Sage - That was the best part. She always razzes me on Facebook about my love of turtlenecks (perhaps you've seen this person) so I thought it would be great to get her a true Murf gift: turtleneck onesies of various sizes and colors and patterns.
Alas, it didn't pan out.
Take it back to JCP without the receipt. I'm sure you'll get store credit.
Then, when Ed does have another baby, you can go buy him a gift with the credit ;)
Now prepare for returners remorse.
Happy Festivus Eve!
TC - GREAT idea!
Bone - So far nothing but she did send me a Facebook message. More about that in the next entry.
