I did something that I very rarely do....I loaned someone a book of mine. I'm particular about what I keep (I've seen the horror of what can happen if you keep everything) so the books that I do have aren't meant to be tossed around. I sort of got hoodwinked into sharing because a friend, whom I don't mind loaning books to, passed it on to another coworker. Her reason for doing so was pure, she thought this other person would enjoy it, but technically not getting formal permission from me is rather irksome. This person then passed it on to a friend of hers who has returned it to the coworker. She was suppose to have brought it in and left it for me during my recent week off as she was preparing to move. The move has taken place and as of this morning when I asked about it, the book is somewhere in a box. I got the feeling that there won't be any added initiative to get through the boxes to find it.
It has been about two months now. Here's hoping that Tully shows up again one of these days.

I lend books out all the time and they don't always come back home (: Hey, here I am posting in your favorite city (waiting on a red eye) in Las Vegas.
Well, you have a lot of books that you could probably do without. ;-)
My first taste of Las Vegas was in the airport. I was amazed that even that had slot machines.
One of my pet peeves, and something that I've had a discussion or two with Snakeeater, Jr. about.
If I lend something to X, I've lent it to X, period. It's not up to X to make a decision to re-lend that article to Y.
If someone lends something to me, it goes no further. I know I've angered a person or two over that (such as Jr.), but I think that's a good way to live an uncluttered life.
I've had to replace a few books that I've lent out over the years and never returned. I guess it is the price of doing business. Fortunately, most of my friends don't read so my books stay safely on their shelves.
Most of the time I do not care, but on occasion it really frosts me when a book is not returned.
A few years ago some one wanted to borrow a book my Dad had given me that was signed by him and the author. The book is now out of print. The borrower can not seem to find it and wonders why I am upset about it. According to her, "its only a book" GRRRRRRRR
Any action you take short of murder is acceptable. Murder is out because you KNOW you will not get the book back then. *G*
