Men and boots

I can't say I ever paid attention to men and their idiosyncrasies until one day, a few years ago, I happened to mention in an email to someone I once dated whom I am still friends with that I was wearing boots. As with most of my conversations with people, I'm not sure how this topic of my attire came up but he then asked, "Why didn't you wear boots when we dated?" I didn't really have an excuse since I am not anti-boot. It just so happened that I never really took an interest in that look until afterwards. Come to find out, (straight) men have a thing for women in boots.

Today, I am getting honored for servicing my employer for 10 years. For the lunch, I thought I would dress up a bit which I don't normally do. I had a skirt that I needed brown boots to go with so knowing that Big A is quite opinionated on my footwear, I dragged him out on Sunday morn to DSW (also known as a heavenly warehouse of footwear) by reminding him of the pair that I had when we were dating that he still refers to as the 'Revolutionary War' shoes. After a few false starts with boots that were either black or too motorcycle-ly looking, he found them. A bit higher heeled than what I normally lean towards (3 inches) but with a not-to-dainty of a heel that it wouldn't be manageable. I'm not clumsy but I'm not the most graceful of people but so far, so good on both the getting around in them and not having to hear about boot fetishes of any male coworkers. It's bad enough that I am aware that the majority have them.

All this talk about "servicing your employer" and tall boots makes me think I have your profession all wrong. ;)

Believe me, if that was the case, I would hope I'd be making at least double what I am now. :-)

Boots are okay, but at least the one straight guy I know best (ME) really like strappy heels... :)

What is a Revolutionary War shoe? big buckles?

They were flats that did have the buckle across the top of the foot. :-) Don't listen to Big A. They were cute.

I say wear what is comfortable! If boots are comfortable, wear them; if not, don't!
