What the.....

I'm going here tomorrow:

They recently built a lovely shopping area just off of the expressway and service drive and what better way to handle traffic from all three spots than this god-awful design. I really hate the rising popularity of roundabouts. I don't care to hear about the benefits from the engineering aspect, how it keeps traffic moving, etc. This particular one is ridiculous. Give me a long red light any day. Thankfully my friend who lives in the area and has mastered it is driving. I'll be taking pictures if I'm not too dumbstruck.

Wow, I'm jealous. I wish we had more of those around here!

Ed - Surely you jest. When you do, better learn it by driving the old Civic around there. I'd hate to hear that the pretty new van got messed up during the learning curve!

wow, that's crazy looking.

I was thinking that something a little sportier is in order for taming those circles. When I was in England, I used to see how fast I could go through a circle in my sporty little turbo rental car. If I could get the tires chirping, I was in heaven.

I can never express how much I hate roundabouts.

My best friend is a traffic engineer and sings their praises non-stop. From a technical (i.e. computer-generated) perspective, I'm sure they make great sense. But from a real-life perspective, they suck.

I always enjoy debating with her about them, but more than that, I like it when she and my Dad start arguing about them. It's fun times to watching a semi driver and a traffic engineer argue roundabouts :)

That would be a great debate to eavesdrop in. How about taping it next time?

I'll see what I can do.
