Murf expands her horizons....maybe

Tomorrow afternoon, your beloved Murf will be entering one of the 9 circles of hell. Yes, it is that time of the year again...OFFICE SUMMER PICNIC. Much like last year, it will feature a potluck type affair followed by board and card games. I'm pretty sure that board and card games make up circle #2. Last year, I killed time between food and my departure time by tagging along with a group of people that wanted to play disc golf. That would be circle #7 because watching accountants try to play this "sport" was mildly entertaining. I ditched them halfway through when I noticed that we were so deep into the woods, I thought I saw Ted Kaczynski's shack.

On top of this, there's a possibility of thunderstorms tomorrow. I may be stuck in the room with these board and card game playing people. Quelle horreur!

On a more participatory note, I think I want to play softball next year. I've come to this conclusion while throwing a baseball around with Big A recently. I've never played organized sports before. I've never really played any sport for that matter unless I had to for a grade. The fact that I've come to this conclusion after chopping my hair off frightens me just a bit. I will really be scared if I find myself buying flannel shirts in the fall.

I can't quite picture you in flannel shirts, but you'd look hot in a softball uniform.

Thanks, Snake Eater. I think I'm going to rock it old school too...I wanna wear stir-ups.

Your picnic sounds like fun. I haven't played disc golf before but I've thrown around a frisbee lots of times and play golf so what's not to love? Even the board games would be fun. I'm known as a cold hearted SOB when it comes to Monopoly.

Are you sure it's only when it comes to Monopoly? ;-) I prefer the throw back games - Trouble, Sorry, Uno.

I was a badass at Uno too. ;)

I don't think you could beat me. I love calling Uno with a Draw 4 in my hand when I learned that you could keep score.

I save a Draw 4 just for that occasion when you call Uno. That's how much of a badass I am!

So much for that sweet and gentle Ed Abbey that I've known for 1.5 years. Someday, we should play a game.

I'll throw darts! I hope you are having fun at your picnic which should be going on right about now. Sorry I wasn't available today to throw darts into the little spat over games that went on here.

Have you ever played Fast Uno where a person can end up with receiving four "Draw Fours" at once and thus needing to draw sixteen cards? This way sometimes the person to put the first "Draw Four" down ends up being the one who has to pick up sixteen cards.

Sage - You posted at 5:32. I had long left the festivities. I waited until my normal 3:00 departure time and then made a break for it. I only had to endure about 45 minutes of game time. Not bad.

Tim - And here I thought all those family pictures of you guys playing games was a warm, fuzzy, gentle time together. Now I think otherwise. :-)

I guess there is a bigger badass than me in Uno. :)
