Career change?

I thought I would share with you the email that I sent to a couple of coworkers who could not make it to our lunch outing today which was to a new restaurant that none of us had been to:

Hi, ladies.

Per your request, I will go into detail about Chipotle. Perhaps a bit more so than you want/need but I need to get my jollies somehow. :-)

Parking:
Chipotle have very limited parking plus it shares it with a coffee place and Kinkos. Due to good timing, I found one at the end. Granted, it was in 'compact car only' parking but seeing as that I was in the last spot, I felt parking the Saturn Vue there wouldn't cause any smaller car any problems. Usually seeing a SUV in compact only parking ticks me off but I guess we all make up reasons for doing it when need be. Coming out, I was happy to see that there was a much larger SUV parked next to me, directly underneath the 'compact car only' sign. I now no longer look like the idiot.

Ordering food:
You walk up in line and they make it for you (a la Subway). The menu is fairly limited. You get 6 options (burrito, fajita burrita, taco, etc) and can have one of 4 fillings (chicken, steak, vegetarian and one other that I never heard of before and hence, forgotten). The nice Mexican guys of questionable visa status make it for you. One grabs the basket with the tortilla-style of your choice and inserts the meat. He then passes it down to another Mexican guy who places the miscellaneous items in it (cheese, lettuce, etc). I was a bit stumped because they offer salsa, not sauce. I'm use to Taco Bell where you can find salsa AND sauce. I went with the basic tomato salsa in my crunchy taco but made a mental note to sneak in some Taco Bell mild sauce in further visits.

Food:
I didn't really care for the flavor of the crunchy taco shells. It was rather bland. Perhaps that is that way to showcase the flavorableness of the innerds but I like to have all around flavor. Everything tasted very fresh but I think I will try the soft taco next time. I did like that the pop machine were easily accessible to get your own refills. Unfortunately, there was only one so you had to time your refill to the lull in the newcomers.

Interior:
The decor was very sparce. It looked like something decorated by Ikea but there were a lot of windows and natural light. The steel top tables were nut and bolted to the floor and the chairs were a bit hard on the tush. I suppose they don't want people loitering but even if the tables were moveable, the atmosphere doesn't lend itself to just hanging out and chatting. I suppse that's what the coffee house two doors down is for.

Overall, on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being great, I would give it an 8 and I wouldn't mind going back every so often.

So, whatcha think? Do I have a future in writing restaurant reviews?

Your future in the restaurant review business is limited if you don't mention the damage to your pocketbook as well. I'm more utilitarian when it comes to lunch and look for the best bang for my buck.

Good point. I will have to ponder on if that meal (4 hard tacos and a large pop...if I knew there were free refills, I would have gone for the smaller size) was worth $7.50.

Don't you find it reassuring the possibility of the in person Murf (as exampled in the email that I just shared) being not much different than the regular blogging Murf? :-)

You have always been thru and thru Murf to me. :)

that got an 8? it was an entertaining review, but I wouldn't necessary care to try it unless it was an alternative to McDonalds.
