On Saturday, I went to a 30th birthday party for a good friend. Much as I did for mine, she also hosted hers as well. The highlight of my 30th birthday was the next day when I had peace and quiet and enjoyed the reheated hamburgers. Her's was a little more relaxed.
Every fall, she and her husband also hold what has turned out to be an annual autumnal picnic and bonfire (or bomfire as he calls it). Last year, we had a delicacy unknown to everyone there except for the person who brought them - pudding shots. This year, because last year's pudding shot maker won't let her new husband near any woman that weighs less than 200 pounds, she probably won't be coming so for my contribution to the birthday party and as a trial run for the autumnal picnic, I dabbled in pudding shots. I thought of my friend as soon as I read the recipes in the newspaper and noticed the one that called for tequila rose (a strawberry flavored liquor), her favorite alcoholic beverage.
Unlike Sage, I am not very knowledgeable on the varieties of alcohol so it took me two stops to finally find a place that had tequila rose. The first stop was at a grocery store and, since I didn't want to make numerous stops, I then drove across town to a place that sells nothing but beer, wine and liquor. I felt kind of funny and ever so slightly cool while leaving this kind of a place with a bottle wrapped up in a brown paper bag.
The recipes in the newspaper were written as if Sage had written them so they were a little confusing. The first batch turned out horrible but I decided to give it another try so I ran out to the grocery store to get the additional items (another box of pudding and Cool Whip) and this turned out much better. Here's the correctly written recipe:
3/4 cup milk
1 small package instant pudding mix (I used vanilla)
1 8oz tub extra creamy whipped topping
3/4 cup of alcohol (I used tequila rose)
Mix ingredients in a bowl with whisk or in a blender on low (I used a handmixer on low). Pour into 3/4oz plastic cups with lids (I actually used 1 oz cups). Keep in freezer until approximately 30 minutes before serving.
If I make these again next month, I think I will decrease the amount of milk and increase the amount of alcohol. Nothing more fun than drunk people playing with fire.

I'm about to leave for a week, and won't be around to protect my good name, but before I go I should state that Sage wouldn't make anything like that and that he doesn't do mixed drinks (nor mixed puddings, for that matter)
Perhaps Sage will one day broaden his horizons a bit.
That does not sound good at all. Creamy items and liquor are two things I don't like to mix in my stomach.
And no jokes please. Mmk!
Shan - Can I make a crack about the name of your band being 'Hot Goo' rather than 'Hot Glue' instead? :-)
I think the only way someone could get drunk off those is for them to drink a couple BATCHES of them at one go. How many proof is TR?
Google said 34 proof so make that three or four batches to get buzzed.
I wonder how many calories are in them. Probably a greater chance of becoming fat than tipsy.
